About NVO Worldwide.

What does NVO Worldwide do?

NVO Worldwide is a neutral logistics partner for freight forwarders. Our main focus is LCL and FCL ocean freight, supported by services such as rail, customs, pre-carriage and final delivery. We find suitable routes, coordinate the operational side of the shipment and keep you informed along the way. You manage your customer. We take care of the freight.

We work exclusively with freight forwarders. Our role is to support your service without stepping into the commercial relationship you have with your customer. You remain responsible for the customer, communication and commercial agreements. We provide the routes, capacity, connections and operational support needed to move the shipment.

Neutrality means knowing our place in the chain and sticking to it. We work behind the scenes and do not compete for your customer. Your customer stays your customer. Our teams coordinate the freight operation with carriers, agents, terminals, warehouses and other local partners while you remain in control of the commercial relationship. No crossed lines. No confusion about who does what.

NVO Worldwide has local teams across Europe and works with a global network of carriers, agents, terminals, warehouses and logistics partners. Our international network gives you access to global routes while keeping local contact close. You can work with a local NVO team even when your shipment crosses several countries and involves multiple partners.

LCL & FCL
ocean freight.

What is the difference between LCL and FCL?

LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares container space with other shipments. It is a practical option when you do not need a full container.

FCL (Full Container Load) means you use a complete container for your shipment. It is suitable for larger volumes, regular cargo flows or freight that needs to remain separate.

Not sure which option fits? Tell us what needs to move and we can help you look at the available options.

LCL can be a good fit when:

  • you do not need a full container;
  • you are moving a single pallet or smaller shipment;
  • you want flexible consolidated freight;
    you are looking for regular LCL
  • departures;
    you want to combine smaller volumes into an efficient ocean freight solution.

We look at the shipment details, available departures, routing, cut-offs and handling requirements to find an option that works.

FCL can be a good fit when:

  • you need a full container;
  • you have larger volumes or regular container flows;
  • your cargo needs to travel separately;
  • you need dedicated container capacity.

We check equipment, carrier options, sailings, cut-offs and connected services and coordinate the shipment from origin to destination.

Yes. We support both import and export shipments across our LCL and FCL services. The exact routing, departure and operational requirements depend on the origin, destination and cargo.

Yes. Depending on the shipment and route, we can coordinate services around the ocean freight, including pre-carriage, final delivery, customs and inland transport by road or rail. We bring the different parts together so you do not have to coordinate every party separately.

There is rarely one route that works for every shipment. We look at the origin, destination, cargo details, volume, equipment requirements and cargo-ready date. From there, we check available carriers, departures, cut-offs, transit options and local handling requirements. You receive a clear option and know what is arranged and what we still need from you.

Booking & Shipment Management.

Can I request a quote online?

Yes. You can request quotes through NVOGO, our digital freight platform. You can also contact your local NVO Worldwide team directly if you prefer to discuss your shipment with a person.

Yes. NVOGO allows you to request and receive quotes, make bookings and keep an overview of your shipments. Our digital tools are there to make the process easier, not to replace the people behind it.

NVOGO is NVO Worldwide’s digital freight platform. It brings the practical parts of shipment management together in one place, including:

  • quote requests;
  • online bookings;
  • shipment tracking;
  • documents and milestones;
  • an overview of current shipments.

Use NVOGO when it saves you time. Contact our team when a conversation makes more sense.

Cargo & Compliance.

Can NVO Worldwide handle dangerous goods?

Yes. We can handle dangerous goods shipments, provided the cargo meets the applicable requirements and the required documentation and packaging are in place. Acceptance of dangerous goods is always subject to the applicable regulations, carrier requirements and final approval.

If you are planning a DG shipment, contact your NVO team before booking so we can check the requirements for your specific cargo and route.

We work with the commonly used Incoterms and can help clarify the operational requirements connected to your shipment. The responsibilities, costs and risks depend on the Incoterm agreed between the parties. If you are unsure which setup applies to your shipment, our team can help you understand what information is required.

You can also find our current Incoterms overview on our Terms & Conditions page.

Yes. We can support customs procedures connected to your shipment, including import, export and transit formalities. The exact customs requirements depend on the countries involved, the cargo and the type of shipment.

Yes. Customs support is available for rail shipments where required. For China–Europe rail freight, our current offering includes import services from China to Europe.

Some countries require shipment information to be submitted before cargo arrives or before a vessel departs. Depending on the destination, this can include filings such as:

  • AMS for the USA;
  • ACI for Canada;
  • ENS/CCAM for China;
  • ACID for Egypt;
  • AFR for South Africa;
  • Mexico filing requirements.

The exact requirement depends on the destination and shipment.

A waiver is a mandatory import document required by certain countries, mainly in Africa, to confirm that cargo has been pre-registered before arrival.

Depending on the destination, this can include documents such as CTN, BSC, ECTN or CNCA certificates. Our team can advise you on the requirements for your specific destination.

Rail freight.

Does NVO Worldwide offer rail freight?

Yes. We offer both LCL and FCL rail solutions, including connections between China and Europe. Our rail services can be used as an alternative when ocean freight does not fit the required timing or shipment requirements.

Rail can provide a shorter transit option than ocean freight while generally producing lower CO₂ emissions than air freight. We look at the shipment, route and timing to determine whether rail is a suitable option.

Yes. Our rail solutions can be combined with inland distribution and other connected services, depending on the route and shipment. We coordinate the different parts of the journey so the operation stays clear and manageable.

Road
transport.

Does NVO Worldwide offer road transport and final delivery?

Yes. We can arrange road distribution from ports, terminals or warehouses to the final destination. Our distribution services support both LCL and FCL shipments and can be combined with our ocean and rail solutions.

Yes. Depending on the destination and local possibilities, we can arrange deliveries within agreed time windows. Let us know the delivery requirements when requesting your quote so we can check what is possible.

As a general guideline:

  • up to 33 Euro pallets (120 × 80 cm);
  • up to 26 Block pallets (120 × 100 cm).

Actual loading capacity depends on the cargo, pallet configuration and transport requirements.

Loading meters are used to calculate how much floor space cargo occupies in a truck. As a basic calculation, the cargo length in centimeters is divided by the internal truck width of approximately 240 cm. For example, a pallet measuring 120 cm in length represents approximately 0.5 loading meters.

Packaging & Shipment Requirements.

What are the standard dimensions of Euro and Block pallets?
  • A standard Euro pallet (EUR1) measures approximately 120 × 80 cm.
  • A standard Block pallet (ISO1) measures approximately 120 × 100 cm.

The actual height and construction can vary depending on the pallet type and supplier.

Many countries require wooden packaging material to comply with ISPM 15 regulations. This can apply to countries including the USA, Canada, Australia and China, among others.

Requirements can vary depending on the destination and type of packaging. If you are unsure whether ISPM 15 applies to your shipment, contact our team before shipping.

The BMSB seasonal measures mainly apply to Australia and New Zealand. During the relevant season, certain cargo from high-risk countries may need to be treated or inspected before arrival.

Because requirements can change, we recommend checking the current requirements for your shipment and origin before booking.
